In honor of the National Day of Rest for Black Women, Cecilia's House has partnered with The Counseling Black Women Collective to host a Virtual Resting Summit for Black Women. This summit features a series of experiential workshops designed to honor our divine right to rest—because every day is a beautiful day to be a rested Black woman!

1) Healing Ancestral Wounds with Rest with Kimber Shelton, PhD (2:01)
Dr. Kimber Shelton is a licensed psychologist, author, and speaker. She is an award-winning psychologist committed to creating transformative healing spaces for minoritized groups. Dr. Shelton has over 20 publications, including the bestselling A Handbook on Counseling African American Women. She is the cofounder of the Counseling Black Women Collective, a platform amplifying Black Women’s mental wellness and Black women therapists.

2) A Boundaried Black Woman is a RESTED Black Woman with Zoeann Finzi-Adams, PhD (9:36)
Dr. Finzi-Adams obtained her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Howard University and is deeply passionate about the lived experiences of Black women, including the impact of group-based stressors, disparities, as well as their unique strengths and resiliency factors. Her research centers on Black maternal health and high-functioning anxiety and depression among Black women.

3) The Power of Pause: A Meditation for Black Mothers with Mahlet Endale, Ph.D. (14:46)
Dr. Mahlet Endale is a psychologist and owner of Crossroads Mental Wellness Services. Over the course of her career, she has served as an author, editor, instructor, clinical supervisor to trainees, consultant, and psychotherapist. She currently resides in Georgia and provides psychotherapy to clients in Georgia and Florida.

4) “I am Worthy of REST”: Affirmations for a Rested Self with Dominique Broussard, PhD (22:43)
Dr. Dom received a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and a Master's degree in Community Counseling from The University of Georgia. Her career has focused on providing therapy and collegiate education. She is unapologetic in her support of Black wellness and is the cohost of the award-winning podcast, Cultivating H.E.R. Space.

Rebecca C. Werts is a counselor and educator who is passionate about women’s wellness. Pursuing her Ph.D. in Counselor Education at the University of North Texas, Rebecca blends personal and professional experiences to empower clients, students, and communities. 6) Moving from Burnout to Balanced Rest with Asha Clark-Carter, LPC (38:00)
Clark-Carter is a licensed clinical professional counselor who uses an integrative approach to therapy. She specializes in perinatal mental health, life transitions, women’s health, racial trauma, and anxiety. Clark-Carter is a Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist and is the DEI Community Outreach Chair for a mental health agency.

Dr. Mēgan Pickens is a Ph.D. and licensed professional counselor supervisor, serial entrepreneur, author, speaker, and trainer specializing in life enrichment, female empowerment, and healthy relationships. She specializes in helping High Achieving Black Women (HABW™) and is the cofounder of the Multicultural Behavioral Provider Network.
